Do have hot yoga?
No. You will GET hot and sweat it out most of our classes: flow, pilates, strength and conditioning, and slow flow, for examples, but we do not crank up the heat in the room.
Where do I park?
There are parking spots along W. Rosemary St. and across the street from the studio in a municipal parking lot. Otherwise, there is a free parking deck next to the Hampton Inn, just a couple blocks away. It's best to arrive ten or more minutes before class starts to allow for parking. Also, don't forget that there are bike racks!
What should I bring?
It is recommended that you bring your yoga mat, a small towel, and a water bottle. The studio provides blocks, bolsters, straps, and blankets, but feel free to bring your own props if you like!
We do not rent mats but have a few extra if you accidentally forget yours. :)
Where should I put my stuff?
The studio provides cubbies for your personal belongings. Please remove your shoes and place them in the cubbies at the back of the studio.
What should I wear?
Please wear something comfortable and breathable that allows for ease of movement. Try to avoid anything too loose-fitting. And please remember: No shoes in the practice area.
When should I arrive?
Doors open 15 minutes before class starts. Feel free to arrive then. Allow yourself some extra time for parking.
What if I'm late?
Try not to be. The doors will be locked 5 mins after class starts, and there are no refunds for missed classes.
How do I sign up for classes?
We use Mindbody for class scheduling. Check back soon for more details.
Do you accept drop-ins?
If there is room in a class, you can register for that class on your phone while at the studio. It's best to register for class in advance, but if you forget, and there is still room in the class, you'll be OK.
What if I need to cancel my reservation?
No problem, but if you cancel class within an hour of start time, you will be charged a $10 late cancellation fee.
I am new to yoga! What should I expect?
Yoga at Recess is for all skill levels and body types! It's OK to be a little nervous before taking your first class. We were all new to yoga once. Please know that we are here to meet you exactly where you are. There is really no such thing as being "good at yoga," or, at least, there is no point in thinking like that. All that matters is that you show up for yourself. If you are new, please let your teacher know. They will look out for you and offer you modifications so that you can get the benefits from the poses. We want you to be comfortable. Please communicate with us.
What types of yoga classes do you offer?
We offer a variety of yoga classes to cater to different preferences and levels, including Vinyasa, Slow Flow, Yin, and more. You can find the class descriptions on our website.
Do I need to have prior experience to join your classes?
No, our classes are designed for individuals of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Our instructors provide options and modifications to suit your needs.
Are there showers and changing facilities available?
You can change in our bathroom, but we do not have a shower available for students.
Do you offer private or group sessions for special occasions or events?
Yes, we offer private and group sessions for events, parties, or corporate gatherings. Please reach out to us for more information on private bookings.
Can I attend if I have a medical condition or injury?
It's important to consult with your healthcare provider first, but many of our classes can be adapted to accommodate various conditions or injuries. Please inform your instructor before class so they can provide appropriate modifications.
What should I eat before class?
It's traditional to avoid food for around two hours before practice or to practice first thing in the morning. It's not the end of the world though if you need a little snack within two hours of class.
