Tom Sowders opened Recess Yoga opened in October 2023 to create a space in Carrboro for accessible, down-to-earth yoga that does not overlook the fact that yoga is more than physical poses. And it's certainly not just exercise. It's SO MUCH MORE. Yoga is a state of connectedness that you can access by getting underneath the chattering mind and breathing into the present moment.
At Recess, we use movement to create connection: between your mind and your body, your breath and your essence, and sometimes, energetically, between each other, as we co-create a comforting space to be in practice. So it's "deep," if you want it to be, but guess what! It's also FUN. We want to help you live your life, to give you a refuge from the busy world outside as well as the busy mind.
All bodies and all levels of experience are welcome at Recess. There is no judgment here: Just positivity, warmth, and what we hope will help you create more inner peace and happiness. And sometimes we have dance parties! Join our community, and see what it's all about.
